This was a great webinar.. very useful -- Dr. Lori laid it out in a very structured way. One year ago I did not even know that this was a 'thing', until I then found out that a lot of people struggled with it. It has been so helpful, to just accept it and be compassionate with oneself and others. Thanks to Grisha for always finding new speakers. I love the Diamond group, never been in a forum, with so much value for the money.

This was amazing to have a webinar on mental health and the 'other side' of dog training. I was able to have my questions answered, as imposter syndrome is something I experience. It was validating to know others go through this and I'm not alone.

So much great advice was given! I really struggle with feeling like I’m a “fraud” or don’t have the knowledge I need to take on clients for private training, yet deep down I know that I do have the skills to help, my anxiety just gets in the way. It’s a whole other world when you’re taking somebody's money. There’s a lot of pressure to do well! This seminar was very insightful and gave me some great techniques on how to build my confidence and fight the feeling that I’m a “fraud.” Thank you Lori and Grisha!

Check it out if you think (or know) that you might struggle with imposter syndrome. The information is well presented and easy to understand. As an aside, I really enjoyed Grisha's comment during the Q&A that the people suffer from reactivity as well as dogs, and the underlying mechanisms and therapies are pretty much the same if you're a mammal. Never thought of that before…

Loose leash walking is something my dog struggles with, but this was a very comprehensive video with so many fresh ideas to try with her, and great demonstrations of the techniques, I'm confident that we can work together to help her not feel the need to pull so often. Absolutely something I'd recommend people watch, regardless of whether they're struggling with loose leash skills or not.

You're not the only one who wonders, "Am I a Fake?"

The Imposter Experience (also known as Imposter Syndrome) is extremely common, and it shows up in different ways. For some, it's an out-and-out questioning of their credibility or whether they belong. For others, it shows up more subtly as over-preparedness and striving for perfection or even just a comparison to others. While comparison is an unavoidable part of being human, it's our choice of what to do next.

Dog professionals like vets, behaviorists, and trainers routinely disagree on methods and approaches, and there's so very much to learn in this ever-expanding world of knowledge. This can leave us wondering whether the others might actually be the 'real' experts. We also tend to not prioritize our own self-care as much as we could, which ultimately ends up robbing the world of our talents.

But if you're still reading this description, the word Imposter has struck some kind of chord, so you likely could benefit immensely from this presentation.

For this webinar, I've brought in a psychologist to help guide us through the ways we can actually turn this uncomfortable experience into a gift.

Available now for streaming. Recorded May, 2022.

  • Suitable for pet owners, trainers, behaviorists, shelter workers and anyone looking to expand your knowledge and skills to support dogs and their people.

  • Learn the surprising and hidden ways that Imposter Experience can show up.

  • Discover ways to address your particular expression of Imposter Syndrome.

  • Useful even if you don't have the imposter experience, as others you work with, including clients, are likely having it.

  • Learn concrete tools to boost confidence in your skills. You've been working hard to get a broad dog training education. When you trust your experience and insights, other people will, too, and that means it'll be easier for them to learn from you and help dogs.

  • Get this and whole lot more with a Diamond Membership All Access Pass. For one low price per month, you get access to lots of emotionally enriching courses. See if Diamond is right for you.

  • Already a Diamond? You're already enrolled in this webinar, at no extra charge. Just log in and refresh this page, and you'll see a Start Learning or Resume Learning button on the top.

  • We also have a Library Pass which lets you stream this course and a lot of other pre recorded content. Find out more on the Library Pass Page.

Paradoxically, the most talented and educated are prone to Imposter Syndrome.

Whether your imposter experience shows up in the dog world or the dance floor, this webinar will help.

  • 1.75 hours of video in two parts

The 45-minute presentation is jam-packed with useful concepts. The live Q&A was also recorded for you to watch or rewatch any time. Includes slide notes and an automated session transcript.

  • Q&A Session Recording

The Q&A sessions in the Academy are interactive, often more like a discussion with me (Grisha) and the presenter, answering questions from the students and linking it to the bigger picture of what we teach in the school. It's a great way for you to get Lori's help to further understand the material.

CEUs (CCPDT & IAABC) Available for Course Purchasers and Diamond Members

CEUs 1.5 CPDT CEUs, 1.75 IAABC CEUs

  • Continue the Learning

Webinar attendees are also eligible to continue the conversation in the Grisha Stewart Learner Support Facebook Group.

Diamond members can also post in the special group for Diamonds.

Loved this webinar! From the self-assessment through the talk on how this shows up in our lives and how it affects us and those around us. Perfect timing for me as I've started to explore more about myself, my perfectionism and how it has kept me stuck. Looking forward to seeing where the self-awareness in this area will take me.
