Come and Join Clinical Animal Behaviourist and Certified Control Unleashed Instructor Danielle Beck as she introduces Control Unleashed Pattern Games and explores how they can be used to support behaviour rehabilitation.

Through a series of slides and videos, Danielle will discuss their most used Pattern Games, and break down how predictability can help dogs feel safer. She'll share where to start, how to teach and, most importantly, how they work.

In part two, Danielle takes Control Unleashed into real-world, exploring how familiar games can be progressed, adapted and used creatively to support dogs experiencing reactivity, fear, anxiety and other behaviour challenges.

She'll look at practical ways Pattern Games can support regulation, communication and agency around triggers, rather than simply being a distraction from something difficult.

Most importantly, Danielle will look at the dog within the game. When can we progress? When should we make things easier? When can we offer more choice? And when does our priority need to shift from training to regulation and safety?

  • 2 Webinars

    Part 1 - CU + PG Foundations
    November 17th

    At the end of this session you will understand what is Control Unleashed (CU), and Pattern Games (PG). You'll be introduced to Danielle's favourite PGs and learn when they should be used, how to teach them, and why they work.

    Part 2 - Practical Rehabilitation
    December 1st

    Danielle will bring together the foundations from Part 1 into practical rehabilitation. Using videos from her real world casebook, she'll show you how CU and PG can help dogs develop skills they can access when they need them so they can become focused, not frantic around triggers.

  • Format

    This course consists of two webinars. One to be broadcast live in Zoom on November 17th and the second to be broadcast live in Zoom on December 1st. Both sessions start at 10am Pacific Time.

    A Q+A Session will take place at the end of each session bringing the running time to approximatly 2 hours each, 4 hours in total.


    Recording

    A recording will be available for all registered students approximately 1 week after the live broadcast. We will email to let you know when it is up and ready to stream.

Registered Clinical Animal Behaviourist, Faculty Grisha Stewart Academy

Danielle Beck BSc (Hons.), MSc, ABTC, APBC, CABC, CBATI-KA, CCUI, PACT

Danielle Beck (she/they) is an enthusiastic and passionate Clinical Animal Behaviourist, and trauma-informed rehabilitation trainer. They have been helping people to find the best way to help their animals for over 20 years. The primary species Danielle works with are dogs however, due to her background in zoology and work within zoological facilities, she is happy to see both domestic and non-domestic species.

Danielle has a unique ability to break down complex neuroscience into easy-to-explain analogies featuring meerkats and founded a trauma-informed educational resource for caregivers and pet professionals called Control The Meerkat. Danielle offers professional mentoring and support for other pet professionals, particularly those wanting to progress to the role of Clinical Animal Behaviourist.

As a Faculty Member of the GSA, Danielle hosts Holding Space, a monthly drop in session for Member mentorship and support, and teaches a variety of dog training classes including those relating to Trauma.

On a personal level Danielle also lives with a highly stigmatised condition known as Dissociative Identity Disorder, and its through their personal experience of dissociation, recovery from trauma, research, and education into this condition that lead them onto the path of specialising in trauma. They enjoy helping people understand dissociation and how to support other individuals living with dissociative conditions and breaking the stigma around mental health.

Danielle lives with her assistance dogs and often supports others with the training of their dogs for future assistance dog work.
