Is this you? "Leave it. Leave It! LEAVE IT!"
Living with a dog who relentlessly scavenges food can be exhausting. Instead of enjoying relaxed walks with your dog, you are constantly scanning the environment for discarded food and feel frustrated as you have to fish something disgusting out of your dog’s mouth, yet again.
The problem is that scavenging is a deep-rooted, natural behavior, making it much more challenging to train than other canine behaviors. However, there is a structured food-avoidance training program that can help manage your dog’s scavenging behavior in a kind, effective way - achieving long-term results without aversive training techniques.
Watch this webinar featuring Simone Mueller, author of Don't Eat That: Force-Free Food Avoidance Training for Dogs Who Love to Scavenge. Recorded December 2023.

Even new dog owners without a lot of knowledge yet can start straight away, as well as experienced trainers can get new input. Definitely a must watch for owners of hoover dogs or those who live in an area where theres a lot to pick up for dogs or just if you want to make sure your dog doesn't get interested in it

Read MoreSimone Müller provides a succinct, easily grasped understanding of why our dogs scavenge. And she shows us how to influence this very natural behavior. Her program does not set the handler up in opposition to the dog. Instead, it is a cooperative program that lets dogs and handler navigate the environment together. I have had a lot of success with Simone’s Predation Substitute Training, and I look forward to adding these scavenging protocols.

Read MoreI had pieces of Play Way as a professional trainer, having stumbled upon the magic by simply interacting in fun ways with dogs in my own journey with them. Dr. Cook was amazing at breaking things down, providing distinctions between types of play and how they matter to the learning process for a dog who may be limited by fear, anxiety or stress. This webinar provides more tools for BAT, and introduces more avenues for us to help our dogs feel safe and supported in their interactions with humans. As always, my mind is swirling with the applications to other species because the material was presented with the idea of growth and expansion to the benefit of mutual interspecies relationships!

Read MoreTactile/non-toy play has hitherto been a neglected topic in discussions of relationship building, behaviour/emotional change and activities to do with our dogs. While a lot of what Amy talks about is something we do intuitively with our dogs, she manages to identify and coach us through the nuances of how to really get the best from this type of play, how to build trust and not make those easy clumsy mistakes that could put our dogs off from playing with us. I really enjoy Amy's approach, the video examples were excelled (and great fun to watch) and I look forward to trying this out with my dog.

Read MoreI had so much fun watching this, Amy's joy was contagious, how she explained and showed the concept of Play Way! I've always played with my dogs this way, rolling on the floor, wrestling with them, but without ever really being aware of their language!! In a multi dog family, it's a bit difficult to play with one without the other wanting to join. And one of the dogs can easily get over aroused.....when (and if) he does, he runs away and fetches a toy, or a stick.........I don't really know how to "teach" him to play with me.....without a toy. Interesting challenge! Thank you so much Amy for this webinar!
