Sing with Sheniqua!

Note: This class is a Stellar Village production. Stellar Village is the sibling project to GSA that Grisha founded to explore topics of connection, relating and healing outside of the context of dog training. Our virtual song circles are about 1.5 hours long, with a bonus chance for some connection with each other at the end in break-out groups in guided discussion (about 20 minutes). This is a recording of Sheniqua's song circle (breakout rooms not recorded for privacy).

In most of our community singing sessions, the songleader introduces each song and then teaches it at the pace we need, with built in pauses for you to be able to repeat the song. Community singing is a heartfelt way to connect together, learn, and have an amazing time doing it! In our community song circles we teach "teaching songs", which are songs full of wisdom that are meant to be easily shared and learned. We usually sing a capella (without instruments or with light instrumentation in service of the song).

Normally, people teach each other songs in person, but we also do this on Zoom, bringing Brooklyn-based song leader and vocal empowerment coach Sheniqua Trotman to your home or community.

  • You don't have to sing alone - you're welcome to bring friends to the Zoom! You can have a group of people at your place participating, on or off camera (on is usually more fun for the songleader). The only caveat is that you don't charge others for it. If you want to do that, please contact us and we'll discuss fair reciprocity.

  • In most of our community singing sessions, the songleader will introduce each song and then teaches it at the pace we need, with us being able to repeat the song in our living rooms or wherever we are at (microphones off, mostly).

  • Singers of all levels welcome! If you don't sing professionally or believe you don't sing "well" we especially invite you to attend! All voices are good voices (also, attendees have mics off, so won't hear you!).
