Stress Affects Behavior, Learning, and Health

Anders Hallgren is a pioneer in dog training. As a trained psychologist interested in animal behavior, Andy became an ‘animal psychologist’ long before I got my first dog as a child.

I first came across his name in around 2011 when I was teaching in the Netherlands. The shocked response from the trainer I was talking with was “how could you NOT KNOW who Anders Hallgren is?” It would be sort of like not knowing about Karen Pryor, Bob Bailey, or Terry Ryan. He’s one of the founders of positive dog training in Sweden, long before it took root with family dog trainers in the US.

I’m so glad that I’ve had a chance to work with Andy for several years now. When I lived in Alaska, I had the pleasure of bringing Andy to teach this topic as a two day dog training seminar. The students loved the information and enjoyed Andy’s sense of humor. He also taught a webinar on his Smoke Alert Training technique here in the school.

When? Andy will teach this online course on canine stress from Sweden, in 3 live sessions, 10 am Pacific time to about 1 pm:

Session 1 (April 14): Stress - History & Physiology
Session 2 (May 5): Stress Factors for Dogs & How to Analyze These

Anders Hallgren, MSc.

Anders Hallgren is considered to be the the first dog psychologist in the world and has written 31 books on dog training, with a focus on mental activation and empowerment. Anders was examined 1971 as a psychologist, MSc, at the University of Stockholm, Sweden.

Anders was the first in the world to train dogs to detect mold in buildings, which today is somewhat of an industry in Scandinavia. He was also assigned to start a program for educating service dogs for assistance dogs in Sweden, which is now effectively developing. In 2000, Anders introduced smoke alarm training for dogs and the interest is growing for this training in several countries. Anders is a global treasure in the dog behavior field, and I'm thrilled to have him sharing his wisdom and experience in my online school.

I hope you can join Anders for this live course, but it will also be recorded for you to watch if it doesn't fit your schedule.
