This webinar opened a whole new world of observation skills to be learned and implemented when working with dogs to ensure physical, mental, and emotional health. Our pets are so special to us, and we only ever want the best for them. This webinar delves so much deeper into understanding what they are saying to us with their body. So many behavioral problems could be solved so much easier if we only "knew". Here is a tool that helps us in knowing. I look forward to learning more with Sarah Fisher!

The animal’s well-being is at the center of all.

Animal Centered Education (ACE) is an integrated approach to animal education and well-being. It incorporates methods that were developed by Sarah Fisher in the UK at Tilley Farm and some modified methods shared by professionals working in the world of animal education, and welfare.

The ACE approach includes ongoing observations of the animal’s posture, movement and nervous system responses, anatomy and physiology to help add layers to caregivers’ knowledge, and life enhancing ACE Free Work that combines a variety of sensory items and experiences to add more layers to rewarding education for both the dog and the caregiver.

Every part of ACE has been inspired by animals over more than two decades. The greatest contributors to what is now a structured way of connecting with all dogs have been the canines in the care of Battersea (a shelter system in the UK), and those who have been fostered or raised at Tilley Farm. As the name suggests, honoring and respecting the needs of the individual animal, and building connections at a pace to suit them, is at the heart of all things ACE.

If you've taken classes at the Academy, you can see that ACE fits right in here! Sarah is a genius at reading dogs. I'm thrilled to have Sarah teaching at the school; you absolutely don't want to miss this one.

I didn't know what to expect but I got so much out of the course! My boy has pain in his hip as well as tailbone and I could see so many signs through this course - how his fur looked pre-pain medication in the spots that were diagnosed and now on pain medication, afterwards. I will look more into free work and hope I can become a better guardian for him, recognising signs of pain more easily in the future.

I find Sarah Fisher's work to be mind-blowingly important! It demands we ask the question "WHY does(n't) my dog do ____?" Rather than "How do I make my dog do ____?"
