With barely no formal understanding of ABA or LEGS but a general understanding of a variety of psychology/ethology-ish fields this really tied a whole bunch of concepts together for me that I had speculated on and questioned! I love the melting together of scientific and philosophical specialties because that's how we will find the methods that are most applicable to real life!

I never get tired of hearing Kim discuss this. Looking at the Learning, Environment, Genetics, and Self as all antecedents is such an easy way for us to integrate this with the ABA that we're familiar with. In addition to this webinar, I can't recommend the full LEGS Family Dog Mediation course highly enough! It is so deeply reaffirming to have someone provide the scientific validity for the things that those of us who love and live with dogs already intuitively know, but have too long been afraid to voice. That's enough of my gushing now...go listen! And then take Kim's full course!

Behaviorism is one helpful leg to stand on.

But if you want to support the whole dog, it helps to rely on other sciences, as well. In this webinar, dog trainer and applied ethologist Kim Brophey shares how some of the current problems in the dog training and behavior profession have resulted from a rigid interpretation of behaviorism. Insisting on seeing animals through a single lens fosters an unnecessary separation from (and even delegitimization of) some of the other natural sciences, like ethology.

This common disconnect can have profound implications for the dogs and families served by professionals if certain critical elements of behavior are accidentally ignored in assessment and practice in the interest of strict adherence to the singular lens of behaviorism.

Join Kim as she introduces us to the natural intersection between behaviorism and ethology as it relates to dog training and consulting in the modern age.
