I found it interesting as years ago I used some of these methods, never shock collars or prongs but choke collars. I liked that fact that some of the more popular averse trainers, like Cesar Milan are starting to look at and see that positive training and behavior modification are real and they work! Thanks for sharing this.

As professional dog trainers, we know that adult dogs do not come to us as clean slates. They have already gone through a variety of other training techniques at home and potentially other professional dog trainers.
It is helpful to know exactly how the other techniques are done so that we can help our clients decide what is best for their dogs.
This talk compares 7 different common methods for rehabilitating fear-based aggression from a humane training perspective, including force-free techniques and punishment methods from popular books and videos. References to YouTube clips of each method will be included to help visualize the differences.
This is an older presentation (2013), but I think the points in it are still important. If you’re a professional trainer, especially if you’re newer to the field, it’s important to get historical background. Fortunately, many techniques have evolved to become more empowering for the learner, but many haven’t. Less violence more control for the dogs is the way to go.
Includes dominance-based methods (Cesar Millan, Barkbusters, Leerburg, etc.) and techniques based on behavioral science.
Empowered versus traditional CC/DS, Control Unleashed, Constructional Aggression Treatment (CAT).
Best for professionals, though most of it should still be accessible to regular folks with dogs.
