Clicker training can be so simple at the beginning to teach basic tricks, but with ongoing training it becomes more and more important to pay attention to all the small details that influence what our dog connect with the clicker and therefore learn. Apart from the theory I loved the practical part where you could train your timing and criteria in little fun games. But not only for people who use a clicker, also for general learning theory to improve your training its interesting

Why do dogs often respond better to professional dog trainers than their guardians?

Most of it has to do with our clear communication during training interactions - conveyed by mechanical skills that we can learn (and teach). By being more precise on our end, we make it easier for all our non-verbal learners to understand us, and in doing so, make learning a lot more fun for everyone!

In this webinar, Clicker Training Expert Andre Yeu will divulge the secrets that all good clicker trainers focus on, that will speed up learning and reduce frustration for all.

Clicker training doesn't always involve a clicker; it can be any marker, like "yes." One of the main uses for marker training in my world is to teach cooperative care behaviors and interactions. When our training skills are cleaner, the process is more predictable and controllable for our learners, so they can feel safer. In other words, clean clicker skills are a way to build trust.

Recorded April 2023.

  • Suitable for family dogs, dog trainers, animal behaviorists, shelter workers and anyone looking to expand your knowledge and skills to support dogs (or any species).

  • This is an advanced class. If you're new to clicker training, consider taking the class How Strong is Your Foundation. That class builds from fundamentals to more advanced concepts.

  • Review common reasons why an animal may respond well to a professional trainer, but not their guardian.

  • Go over the key steps in clicker training and why has to be done precisely.

  • Practice exercises that can sharpen our mechanical skills (and we can share with our clients). Bring a Clicker, some small bowls and treats!

  • Learn how to properly teach our learners to discriminate cues (i.e. to know precisely which cue means what).

  • Strengthen our learner's response to cues so they can perform useful behaviours in many conditions.

  • This webinar and whole lot more is included with a Diamond Membership All Access Pass. For one low price per month, you get access to all of our emotionally enriching dog courses. See if Diamond is right for you.
