Stirling, Scotland: Leash Skills Workshop with Grisha Stewart, 14 October
Practical in-person skills with Grisha, plus 2 online videos for theory!
Participant spots are sold out, but we have space for Observers! Note: Participants are required to watch both video webinars in advance. Videos are optional but requested of Observers.
I developed my leash skills to allow people and dogs to walk in peace on longer leashes. These skills are essential for empowering dogs to have agency for the BAT 3.0 technique, my way of building resilience and social skills for puppies and dogs.
I'm excited to be teaching in person in Scotland! This practical leash skills workshop focuses on how to walk with a long line. It comes with two video seminars to watch beforehand: Intro to BAT 3.0 and Walk With Me, so when you register, you'll see those two course players in your Dashboard.
You'll also see a course player with information about what to bring to the workshop based on whether you sign up as a Participant or an Observer. The leash skills practice is without dogs, so we can go through all of the skills with patience, in safety.
BONUS: There will be an optional walking practice on the land after the workshop with well-socialized dogs that all workshop participants are welcome to attend (about 5 pm). I will be walking between teams and giving tips, but this is not a formal part of the class, it's just something for fun. Please do not bring dogs who are reactive.
When: Saturday, 14 October. 2.30 pm - 5:00 pm + optional walk after
Location: Stirling Dog Behavioural Centre, Unit 86, Bandeath Industrial Estate, Throsk, Stirling FK7 7XY
This is essentially a full-day workshop, but we're using a hybrid approach and doing the theory by video. That way, you save time away from your animals at home. Watch the two video courses to prepare for the 2.5-hour in-person workshop.
Full Participants (SOLD OUT) will be getting hands on group coaching of the leash skills and will serve as a demonstration for the Observers. Participants will be given feedback on their practice as we go.
Observers will also be able to practice hands-on, but won't be getting direct coaching. You will be located in a way to be able to watch full participants in the workshop and receive instruction via the coaching given to full participants. You are welcome to practice the skills on your own in the back, or simply observe and take notes!
No student dogs are participating in the actual workshop. You can bring your dog to leave in the car if they will be comfortable, but we won't be working with dogs at all during the workshop. Please do not bring dogs who will have trouble with a public event, especially dogs who are reactive that you cannot manage well.
We have an installment plan if the full price is something you can't afford. Use these links to sign up as an Observer (3 monthly payments of $29 each) or Full Participant (3 monthly payments of $35 each). Note that we also have a scholarship for online learning.
This workshop will also be offered in a similar format at 9.30 am on the same day at Lothlorien in Linlithgow, except it will not have any Observer spots. Learn more.
Diamond members get a 30% off coupon and CBATIs get 10% off for Early Bird - if you sign up by September 22. CBATI-KSAs may be able to attend free as an assistant. Check your email! Refunds for missed coupons will not be available, so please enter your coupon when you sign up.

This is an outdoor event and we expect it may rain, and won't be cancelling due to weather unless it's extreme.
Tickets are not available for cancellation, but they are transferrable if you contact us by October 2. If you haven't yet watched either of the videos, you can transfer your registration to someone else: please email us and share the email address and full name of the person who will be going in your place.
If you can't attend, we can swap you out for the on-demand video, Leash Belay for Dog Walking: Hands-On Practice Online.
I have an online masterclass with 4 on-demand classes that also go through the leash skills with you, plus delve into how I teach loose leash walking and stress management. You can use the special code SCOTLAND2023 to save an extra $20 on this bundle (code expires Oct 15). Included with Diamond membership.

Read MoreThis is the course that you need if you have a dog that pulls. I would like to show this to everyone who thinks that they need a halti, a prong or a martingale colar because their dog pulls. I got so much more out of it than just a simple and effective way to stop a dog pulling on walks. Lots of wonderful surprises, and one of them is the magic with the long leash so that you will never have to worry about entangling. Grisha has a lovingly professional style of teaching. I am so happy that I have discovered this course and I can't wait to do more by her. Thank you very much!
