Our motto: "Dream big enough for all of us."
In the GSA, we care about people and dogs as individuals. We are in this for good, doing our part to co-create communities in which we all can thrive. We continue to learn to match behavior to ideals. We believe that love is love, no human is illegal, Black lives matter, your life matters, science is important, women’s rights are human rights, animals are individuals with an emotional experience, kindness is everything, and peace deserves a chance.
We believe that education should be accessible to all. We set our prices reasonably. And if you truly can't afford the membership (which gives you access to the full course library & I think is the best deal in the industry), let us know. We have member scholarships for individuals as well as a scholarship bundle for animal shelters and rescues.
We continue to learn how to better live our values, which are reflected in our work in our local and international communities. We love to find and share new practical ways to improve quality of life for dogs AND their people. You won't just learn how to relate to dogs in a way that meets their needs, you'll learn how to apply an empowerment approach to yourself by training the "border collie in your head."
Because how you do one thing is how you do everything. ❤️

I've been helping families learn about positive dog training full-time for over 20 years, since 2003. The Grisha Stewart Academy is part of Empowered Animals LLC, a company I created in 2013 to provide professional education to dog trainers and behaviorists. My passion is helping the human animal live in community with dogs.

Read MoreI have seen this a few times now, and I glean more awareness with each viewing. Molly is simply somebody I can really relate to! I love her style of presenting the information, it is super clear for me. But Molly Sumridge, Grisha Stewart and Andrew Hale discussing BAT and Anthrozoology together! Wow. And the Q & A! I will be watching this one so many more times. This is elevating me as a trainer, and there is mention of ripple effects, Molly articulates how she is seeing it in her community, and that is inspiring. We can't change everything, but we can definitely influence so much in a relationship between a human and their dog (or horse or cat, or birds...or...) just by watching this webinar.

Read MoreI really enjoyed the ideas in this seminar. While it can be used for dogs of all sizes, I think these ideas (particularly the waist belt systems) will be particularly helpful for the very strong pullers or large dogs that lunge explosively. Sometimes I see clients having a hard time handling dogs with these tendencies during BAT sessions, so I think that these leash options will make it easier on their hands and bodies. Thank you for putting together this seminar and sharing these ideas!

My name is Grisha Stewart and my family tree has more dogs than humans!
I'm best known among dog trainers for developing Behavior Adjustment Training (BAT), a humane, trauma-informed technique for dog aggression, frustration, and fear. I also love teaching all kinds of life skills, so this online school covers a lot of different subjects.
Through my international dog seminars, DVDs, books, and my in-person and online training schools, I've helped well over 200,000 dogs and their people thrive.
Here's a little history about me. When I transitioned from college math instructor to professional dog trainer in 2003, I was excited to use positive reinforcement to communicate to dogs what I wanted. Control is a basic mammalian need and (confession time) I really liked the notion that my dog was listening to me. My dog, Peanut, was a rock star with outstanding tricks.
But as I matured as a dog trainer and a person, my focus shifted away from control to ensuring that dogs still get to be dogs, that we find ways to live together that meet their needs and ours. That's why I developed BAT, and why I use positive reinforcement mindfully today, in ways that directly benefit the animal, like teaching cooperative care and consent. [click for my bio]
I created this site with all-inclusive memberships to help dog trainers and pet lovers have affordable way to learn effective, humane modern dog training and care. We also have a Library Pass option that's even more affordable, or courses can be purchased individually for permanent access. We also have need-based scholarships and lifetime free access for dog lovers who identify as BIPOC/PGM. [Learn more]
This online dog school is more than just education. It's an international community with some of the world's top animal professionals. I'm teaching several classes and I'm thrilled that many classes are also taught by my favorite dog behavior experts from all over the globe.
We learn and grow together, to encourage empowered, trustworthy, wholehearted living with dogs.
Thanks for being here!
